ATS Surveillance System in the Aerodrome Flight Information Service. ATS Surveillance System authorized in the provision of AFIS to perform the following functions: a) Flight path monitoring of aircraft on final approach; b) Flight path monitoring of other aircraft in the vicinity of the aerodrome; c) Providing information regarding any aircraft observed to be on a conflicting path with an identified aircraft; d) Navigation assistance to VFR flights through the provision of position information at pilots request and advices to aircraft observed to be deviating significantly from its intended route. The use of the ATS Surveillance System will not be detrimental to visual observation of the aerodrome traffic. Provision of vectoring to aircraft or suggestion of vector are not allowed. The use of an ATS Surveillance System in the provision of the AFIS does not relieve the pilot in command of an aircraft of any responsibilities. |
