AD 1.4  Grouping of Aerodromes/HELIPORTS

The criteria applied in the grouping of aerodromes for the provision of information are:

1.4.1   International Aerodrome-Airport

Aeronautical information relating to aerodromes and military air bases available for entry and departure of international air traffic, where the formalities incident to customs, immigration, public health, animal and plant quarantine and similar procedures are carried out, as well the services provided thereof is depicted in the AD 2 section of the AIP. NOTAM Series A are provided for these aerodromes.

1.4.2   National Aerodrome/Heliport

Aeronautical information relating to national civil aerodromes, for which an instrument flight approach or departure procedure is published, as well services provided thereof, is depicted in the AD 2 section of the AIP. NOTAM Series A are provided for these aerodromes.

Aeronautical information relating to national civil aerodromes and heliports with operations exclusively under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), with no instrument or departure procedure, is depicted in "Manual VFR" which is distributed separately. NOTAM Series C and D are provided for these aerodromes/heliports.

1.4.3   Ultralight Runway

Aeronautical information relating to ultralight runways is depicted in the "Manual VFR", which is distributed separately. NOTAM Series C and D are provided for these ultralight runways.

1.4.4   Military Air Bases and Heliports of exclusive Military use

Aeronautical information relating to air bases and heliports for military use, is depicted in Military AIP, which is distributed separately by Portuguese Air Force. Information regarding to the use of military air bases by civil aircraft is provided in AD 1.1.2 and Military AIP. NOTAM Series M are provided for these aerodromes/heliports.
